Employment - Service Technician Aptitude Checklist

Caltech might be a "TECH" company but a lot of what is done is trade-oriented. Refrigeration, electro-mechanics and plumbing are some of the subjects a Caltech technician must be familiar with. Also, the extent of electronic controls in equipment is increasingly prevalent.

It would not be easy to learn refrigeration or electro-mechanics "on the job." While electronics knowledge is desirable, it is not an essential skill. Caltech will train new technicians after an apprenticeship.

You can complete the checklist below to define your own qualifications prior to an interview. During the interview, you will complete one or more timed aptitude and knowledge tests. For each of the areas of expertise below, please make a selection from High to None indicating your level of capability.

Once you have completed the aptitude test, simply add up the checks for each column to record the column sub-total. Then multiply each sub-total by the column multiplier to obtain the column points total. Finally, add the three column score totals together to find your overall score. Maximum Score = 75 Minimum Acceptable Score = 40 Minimum Refrigeration Score = 13
