Caltech's CCM Program is an annual preventive maintenance service for lab
equipment, bundled with a number of valuable extras. CCM stands for calibration, certification
and maintenance.
Calibration
Caltech technicians use standards to calibrate temperature, humidity and environment controlled chambers. Caltech’s standards are measurement devices that are regularly compared to primary or NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) traceable standards. These include:
- Analog & digital thermometers,
- CO2 measurement devices,
- Humidity metre and hygrometer,
- Tachometer,
- Thermal Anemometer,
- Vacuum gauge,
- Volt-Ohm metres.
Copies of calibration certificates for our standards are available as an additional service.
Certification
Caltech technicians certify that the chamber is operating within the manufacturer’s performance specifications. Some organizations require regular “certification” as criteria set out in their own documented procedures. As well, clean room facilities and clean work stations require periodic
certification as stipulated, in some cases, by worker safety legislation.
Maintenance
Sometimes called preventive maintenance, Caltech directs scheduled equipment checks, adjustments, lubrication and cleaning. Our experienced service technicians also identify and predict potential failure of components. Presenting completed checklists to owner/operators assures management that
equipment performance and dependability is optimal.
"Minimize equipment downtime with Caltech's CCM Program of preventive maintenance."
Preventive Maintenance - Frequently Asked Questions
What is the CCM Program not?
- NOT just a "housekeeping" service -- we also certify that your equipment is
performing according to the manufacturer's specifications.
- NOT a warranty program -- we don't cover failures of equipment. However, if your
equipment does fail while covered by the CCM Program and you choose to have us repair it,
you will receive significant discounts on parts and labour.
- NOT just a preferred client program -- you get regular servicing throughout the year.
- NOT a program where you pay for services you may never need.

should ever fail,
- downtime of your washers and other critical equipment will be minimized or eliminated,

Some of our equipment is new and still under warranty. Why
would we want the CCM Program?
- The CCM Program could turn up something that should be covered before the warranty
expires -- at the manufacturer's cost, not yours! Caltech will have the eyes and ears on
site that the manufacturer does not.
- Most manufacturer warranties cover only repairs resulting from defects in workmanship
and/or materials. This excludes calibration adjustments and failures due to neglect.
Should a piece of equipment fail during warranty as a result of calibration or lack of
maintenance, the terms of warranty are clear: you, the user, would be responsible for any
repair costs incurred. With a CCM Program in place, your repair costs will be minimized --
even eliminated!

Our lab is unusual and has some unique requirements. Can the
CCM Program still help us?
We have an incredibly broad array of customers on the CCM Program, and we can certainly
design a customized CCM Program for your lab's unique needs. In fact, we have never come
across a lab yet for which we couldn't improve the performance of their equipment -- and
their peace of mind.
